A Land of Rock and Dust click to zoom

A Land of Rock and Dust is about an astronomer who falls in love with Mars (the planet) as well as the Red Planets last inhabitant. How do their lives intertwine with one another? I can’t tell you that… but what I CAN ask you is that you read it and find out for yourself! Read it over at Stuff Comics!

No Nude Men is putting on an Olympian Festival in San Francisco throughout the month of July, and I’m in charge of the design elements of the festival.  Because twelve playwrights were chosen to write about one of the twelve olympians, I decided to seek out twelve illustrators to work on twelve different posters for the gods.  I was in charge of Hera, which takes place in the Victorian age.  This was all done in Illusrator CS3.

Boo: Black, White, and Stuffed click to zoom

The 50 Way’s Project was intended to take an object, any object, and view it in fifty possible ways.   This included photography of the object, subjects associated with the object, and cartoons & symbols that are associated with the object.

For this project, I chose my favorite stuffed animal, Boo.   He’s a ghost, he’s cool, he’s black, white, and stuffed, and he also hates vampires (but loves witches.)  His best friend is the enigmatic Doggie Pillow.  …Have I though too much about the life and times of my stuffed animal?  Yes.

:p

The finale of How To Make Ideas Visible was a Visual Catalog of a subject matter of my choosing.  I am one of the many who has been touched with Unemployment, so I thought what better way to channel my anger and frustration then with a creative medium!  So, I chose my unemployment as my subject matter using real, unedited journal entries from a journal I kept while I was unemployed.

VOX Classification Poster click to zoom

For my Type Composition course, we had to take three type classifications from the Vox Classification List, so I chose three of my favorite type classifications:  Humanist, Didone, and Slab-Serif.  I love the color scheme blue and black, and so this poster was born.  We had to include the letters, figures, a brief description of the type family, the Vox Classification list, and a grid/diagram.  I absolutely loved this project.

Maya Lin Poster click to zoom

This was a project for How To Make Ideas Visible and the object was to create a poster about a fake art exhibit about a specific artist we had discussed in the class.   Before this project, I hadn’t really cared much for Maya Lin’s work not that I thought it wasn’t any good… so much as I was overly saturated with learning about the Vietnam War Memorial.  It wasn’t until I saw an exhibit of hers at the deJoung Museum in San Francisco.  I felt so in love with her approach and technique, that I decided to choose her work as my subject matter.

No Nude Men, horrorunspeakable, put on a hilarious show called Fishing, written by David J. Duman and directed by Stuart Eugene Bousel.  I was the graphic designer for the show, so I created this poster that contained all of the main characters of the play in full sexy glory (since the show, well, was about relationships and sex.)  This image was duplicated for the postcard.

About a year ago, I was asked by a good friend of mine to illustrate three comic book covers for a character she was portraying in a film called, The Annual.  Her character was a comic book artist who created a comic about a heroine who adventures through time, and gets up to any number of shenanigans.

Three Wise Monkey’s puts on a wonderful festival in San Francisco called the Bay Of One-Acts (B.O.A.)  I was asked to be the graphic designer for the festival, and I was responsible for the poster, poster card, program, and a book jackets (as well as formatting the book!)  All in all, it was a fun project!
